Some people are born with
music in their blood, and Dana French is one of them. Born in
Chicago, Dana's father Wallace French established himself as
a first pick drummer throughout the Chicagoland area. He played
with such greats as: The Earnest Tubbs Band, Porter Wagner's
Band, and Buck Owens. Dana was there and met these giants of
the industry, and this had a major influence on him. Playing
guitar since the age of 7 and writing songs almost as long has
given Dana a wealth of songs to draw from.
With the music gene firmly implanted, and the desire that it
takes, the late '70s found Dana co-founding the rocking R&B
band Deluxury. With the popular base of support throughout a
six state area, it was not long before the band worked with
national acts. Deluxury released one album on Hollywood California's
"Hot Vinyl Records." Sponsorships included Miller
Beer, Hammer guitars, Shure mics, Audio Technica, and many more.
Dana has had the pleasure of sharing the stage with such well
known acts as: The Fabulous Thunder Birds, Jimmy Vaughn, Dickey
Betts, Robert Plant, Joan Baez, Joe Jackson, and Stevie Ray
Vaughn. Stevie and Dana became friends instantly and later spent
many hours playing together.
Once leaving Deluxury in the late '80s, Dana continued to work
throughout the tri-state area. This time he was playing music
closer to his soul. His unique style allowed Dana to work with
the top artists of the day, including Robin Trower, Ronnie Montrose,
Lonnie Brooks, Koko Taylor, Mick Taylor, Lonnie Mack, Buddy
Miles, and many more.
